I already had a tangle planned for today and it’s still coming up shortly in another post so stay tuned a little later in the day for that one.

However, meanwhile in yesterday’s segment of the Twelve Days of Zentangle, Maria demonstrates how to tangle the Zentangle-original tangle Scena. So of course I had to make sure it’s included on TanglePatterns.

Scena is one of the 102 original tangles but has not been “published” until now. Oddly enough I referred to Scena very recently in the Irradial tangle discussion and here it turns up again, with visual instructions this time.

As part of the Twelve Days of Zentangle (2017 Edition), in this Day 11 video (21:27), first Molly prepares some 3Z Zentangle tiles by gluing them together to form a star. She creates a 6-pointed star using two White 3Z tiles, and then a 9-pointed star using three Black 3Z tiles.

After Molly’s stars are prepared, Maria tangles the 6-pointed White star with a Black Micron PN pen using Auraknot to create a frame into which she adds Pokeleaf inside the triangles. She then adds Scena in the center and finishes the star with some Gold Gelly Roll accents.

In the second part of the video (at about 13:30), Rick tangles the 9-pointed Black star with a Gold Gelly Roll starting with some Umble-like ribbons which he fills first with Shattuck, then large orbs in the second band, and in the third some simple perfs down the middle of the band.

As with the two new official tangles introduced that have videos but no downloadable steps yet (Rumpus, Toodles), when the steps become available I will add them to this page.

As you enjoy any of the tangles on the site, please leave a comment of thanks and encouragement to show the artists you appreciate them for sharing their creativity to inspire yours.

Thank you Rick & Maria – I agree that this is a meditative tool. I’m sleeping better, too. And I enjoy going back to see my work. I had dropped zentangling for several years and now I’m back. This is something that is my very own creation and it is easily done. Again thank you.
