Email Subscriptions

Please know that TanglePatterns.com will NEVER sell, rent, or otherwise distribute your email address. Your email subscription is managed through FeedBlitz and is used solely for the purpose of sending you notice of new posts to this website.

BTW – It is an unfortunate fact of being online that spammers can readily get my email address both from my website, and by hacking your personal contact list (AOL, yahoo and hotmail emails are notorious for being easily hacked). If you receive an email purportedly from me that is nothing to do with TanglePatterns, then please understand that I did not send the email. It has been sent by spammers and regrettably there is virtually nothing I can do to prevent that from happening.

Cookies

This site uses cookies – small text files that are placed on your device to help the site provide a better user experience. In general, cookies are used to retain user preferences, store information for things like shopping carts, and provide anonymized tracking data to third party applications like Google Analytics. As a rule, cookies will make your browsing experience better.

For example, YouTube videos will display properly. Disabling cookies will prevent their display.

However, you may prefer to disable cookies on this site and on others. The most effective way to do this is to disable cookies in your browser. We suggest consulting the Help section of your browser or taking a look at the About Cookies website which offers guidance for all modern browsers.

Advertising

This site is maintained entirely on my own free time and at no cost to you. It is not only a tremendously time-consuming endeavor, but I also personally finance the website hosting fees and the cost of sending you the “free” email newsletter (it’s free to you but not to me). Update: I now have an annual fundraiser in November to help me with the significant costs of running the site.

In order to support the out-of-pocket costs of running and hosting a website such as this with expensive bandwidth increasing exponentially each month created by your visits to each page, advertising by Amazon, Google and its partners was added to the site to help generate revenue to support the site’s continued development and growth – and so I can continue to offer its content free.

This means you should know the following:

  • Third party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user’s prior visits to TanglePatterns.com.
  • Google’s use of the DART cookie enables it and its partners to serve ads to TanglePatterns.com users based on their visit to TanglePatterns.com and/or other sites on the Internet.
  • You may opt out of the use of the DART cookie by visiting the advertising opt-out page.
  • Alternatively, you can opt out of a third-party vendor’s use of cookies by visiting the Network Advertising Initiative opt-out page.

Will I still get ads if I opt out using the NAI tool?
Yes. By opting out from an ad network you only remove yourself from that ad network’s targeted advertising program. You will still see banner ads any time you visit a site whose ads are provided by that ad network. Because the ad network no longer maintains a targeting cookie on your computer, the ads will be general in nature and could be repetitive.
