Tangle Refresher 102 – Featuring a must-read exploration of Zentangle’s Bijouisms …

Tangle Refresher!Last summer (August 2014) Zentangle® co-founders Rick Roberts and Maria Thomas introduced the newest member of the family, Bijou. (Here’s how to pronounce it, my attempt at a phonetic spelling: bee-zhoo). You can read more about Bijou’s introduction here.

The Zentangle site has an entire “Bijou” section along with a page of Bijouisms.

Bijouisms are “Bijou’s thoughts about the Zentangle Method (and life).” This is the list as presented and explained on the site:

Introducing Bijou

Zentangle’s latest family member, Bijou.

  1. Breathe
  2. Admire
  3. Appreciate
  4. Deconstruct
  5. Focus
  6. Slow down
  7. Deliberate strokes
  8. Reflect
  9. Beautiful and Beyond!
  10. Embellish
  11. Relax
  12. Enjoy the shade!
  13. No mistakes
  14. Speak in tangles
  15. Inspire
  16. Comfort
  17. Come out of your shell
  18. Savor
  19. Discover
  20. Trust
  21. Create
  22. The string’s the thing
  23. Choose your tangles
  24. Enjoy!

Be sure to visit this link and contemplate what Bijou has to say about each. S/he has a unique perspective. And enjoy Maria’s wonderful whimsical illustrations, well worth the price of admission.

Happy Mother’s Day Weekend!

Celebrate Mom and give her the gift of Zentangle®.

A quick note to wish everyone a beautiful Mother’s Day this Sunday, May 10th and to make a suggestion for an economical gift that keeps on giving in SO many ways … give Mom an eBook from TanglePatterns.com.

My TanglePatterns.com BEGINNER’S GUIDE to Zentangle® is a great introduction.

There’s a special page for gifting eBooks because the processing is different from when you’re ordering eBooks to download yourself. Here’s the link:

https://tanglepatterns.com/store/how-to-give-tanglepatterns-ebooks-as-gifts

This page is located on the STORE link on the menu bar at the top of any page.

Another great gift for Mom? Contact your local CZT and ask about gift certificates for classes.

The Tangle Refresher series, aka Buried Treasure, spotlights hidden tangle gems from the past. It can remind you of tangles you might not have used for a while or introduce you to some you haven’t come across yet.

Here are five more tangle pattern gems and a Tangle Refresher from a year (or two) ago for your tangling pleasure. Remember to check out the “More Good Stuff” links below too. Zenful tangling!

BTW as you visit these tangles it would be great if you’d take a moment to leave a comment of thanks and encouragement for the tangler who’s shared with us, and Tweet or “like” the page on Facebook to share the tangles with your followers. Sharing links are on the left side of each tangle’s page. Thanks!

Dear Linda, just wanted to thank you for the extra Zentangle (and other) insights you share in the Tangle Refreshers. I’ve just been going back through them and realized I was missing out by not checking out this “bonus” material and seeing the tangles too. Thanks for the Bijouism article and links in this refresher. They were fun to read and Maria’s drawings are adorable.
Just wanted to let you know I’m a new Refresher fan!

    • Linda Farmer, CZT

Thanks Suzanne! I do make an extra effort to add entertainment and/or enlightenment to the Buried Treasure series so I’m delighted you’ve “found” them and find them worthwhile. I appreciate your encouragement and hope others find their way to this series too.
