As many of us are “taking it easy” this lovely long weekend, we have a very easy tangle to experiment with today.
Heart Flower comes from the 10-year-old daughter of one of our Taiwan CZTs, Ginny Lu. Ginny’s daughter Jenny was watching her Mom create the instructions for one of her tangles and decided she’d like to do one of her own. Ginny has three tangles on the site to date including the very popular Sea Wave.
Ginny writes,
“Jenny is my daughter ten years old this year, she told me that she also wants to have her own tangle pattern. I asked her ‘can you draw the tangle pattern step by step?’ She said ‘I often see you drawing, I can.’
The pattern is called ‘heart flower’. It’s a heart-shaped flower with two rolls of leaves. It looks like a small heart-shaped flower, is very cute.”
Heart Flower is a sweet story and a sweet tangle. And again, as there’s no right side up in Zentangle®, I’ve created my example showing Heart Flower going in a couple of directions. Figuring out their placement to make a pleasing end result without bumping into each other is half the fun, as is adding a wee touch of shading to complete it.
Jenny did a superb job of accurately presenting the steps for drawing Heart Flower. She also demonstrates it in a sweet, idyllic Zentangle-inspired scene.
As you enjoy any of the tangles on the site, please do leave a comment of thanks and encouragement to show the artists you appreciate them for sharing their creativity to inspire yours.

This is so cute! Love it! Thanks for sharing.
Jenny, what a good job you did drawing the steps for your pattern Heart Flower! I really like your pattern, and also the scene that you drew! Thanks for sharing your pattern with us –
I like Jenny’s full drawing; the heart flowers look like men showing off their muscles to the ladies 🙂
Well done! Keep it up.
So sweet! I think this makes a great accent for a tile. Well done Jenny! Keep up the great work. You are taking after your very talented mom!
Perfect timing, Jenny. I needed a tangle with hearts to make a wedding anniversary card today. I used your pretty tangle and the card is lovely, thank you.
Thank you Jenny! I just found your tangle for Heart Flower. These are the happiest flowers I have ever drawn! I love them!
This is a cute zentangle pattern to use on cards and such. Thank you for sharing.
Love your tangle, Jenny! Great job on this. Hope you continue to enjoy tangling with your mom.
