A very nervous Monday, the day before the elections here in the USA …
Sea Wave by new tangler Ginny Lu is a lovely one to start out our week — and it may be a good one to alleviate the stomach flutters going on around the world.
Ginny writes that this is her first self-created tangle and its main inspiration clearly was sea waves. As she notes, you can get into a comfortable swing of movement while tangling Sea Wave.
Sea Wave is a pretty tangle to fill any shaped section of your Zentangle® tile. It adds an interesting visual sense of motion which can be accented with a little shading. That said, the density of the auras meeting in Step 4 also creates its own shading.
Ginny illustrates the step-by-step instructions for drawing Sea Wave below and demonstrates it in a monotangle.

very nice tangle, I love it immediately!
lovely!
I’m so excited to try this out! Organic tangles, composed of line work are some of favorites.
very pretty, thanks… shared!
This is so meditative!! Amazing tangle.. Thanks Ginny!
Very soothing tangle. Congratulations for your first developed tangle! ????!
Among a jungle of good and less good patterns this one really stands out! I don’t really “do” zentangle, but make large format abstract line drawings and last night I was looking for patterns to fill a barren corner when I found this one. It’s useful, flexible and startling. I went to bed smiling!
SUPERBE WOUAHHH
Sea Wave is mesmerizing, compelling, addicting even to draw! Wonderful new tangle, Ginny!!
really nice,thanks!
Wow. Mesmerizing. Can’t wait to try.
Ginny this is beautiful!! I want to do a monotangle with this. I have been home from the hospital a couple of days and still have anesthesia-brain. I could not remember where I saw this or its name. This morning my husband found me going through Pinterest upset because I could not find this beautiful tangle. Then thankfully and relievingly I remembered it was on tanglepatterns and Linda! What would we do without Linda and her fabulous website? Anyway, thank you to Linda and Ginny! Nancy
Lovely and is relaxing just looking at it.
I am always drawn to long flowing lines.
Very versatile.
Thank you for sharing, Ginny.
Really pretty! So many possibilities, too! Thanks for sharing!
This is a wonderful pattern! It is going to be a favourite for me, I ca tell already. It is a pleasure to draw, so gentle. And I can hear ocean waves as I draw it! Thanks so much!
I LoVe this tangle. It reminds me of John Franzen’s breath drawings.
Lovely undulations! Just discovered this one and I’ll be trying it today.
Seawave would be an awesome way to draw long luxurious hair! I can also use it to draw a river in a valley. I love this tangle!
Wonderful tangle! One of my favorites!
Seawave is beautiful – thank you for sharing.
