Today’s cool geometric tangle is 2A from Taiwan CZT Mina Hsiao and this makes an even dozen and an interesting variety of tangles she has on the site.
Mina writes that her inspiration for 2A comes from the letter A.
“A” always means good or excellent. Zentangle lets me get better and better.
I used “double A” to create my new pattern (2A).”
As you can see in Mina’s steps illustration below the two letter A’s are superimposed on each other at Step 3, one right side up and the other upside down.
You might find this tangle requires a little more focus than usual. I did. When I was doing my example I ended up creating a grid of X’s as in Mina’s Step 2 (a diamond grid) and from there it was easy to sort out the rest of the tangle with the inner auras in all the right places.
And as there is “no right side up” in the Zentangle® art form, I’ve shown my example above at 90 degrees to Mina’s steps.

This tile is the version I used to create my example of 2A and I added shading as Mina has done above. This variation is an eye-catching design.
In her second tile, Mina uses the tangle enhancer rounding for a variation on the original tangle.
Mina’s third tile features the dewdrop tangle enhancer. When you visit the ZENTANGLES > ZENTANGLE TERMINOLOGY page and look up dewdrop, there’s a link to CZT Lynn Mead’s excellent tutorial on how to create this effect on your tiles. Mina has created a wonderful example of this enhancer.

As we are coached in the chapter on Shading in the Zentangle PRIMER Vol 1, "Ignore the light source ... in Zentangle shading we do not consider the type or direction of the light source. ... More often, shading is a component of the tangle itself that we use to play with dimension, emphasis, and contrast."
