Hello there my tangling friends, it’s so good to see you again! 🙂
I trust your Mother’s Day weekend was lovely and relaxing and you’re ready for a great week of tangle inspiration.
Rare is the occasion when I need to rearrange my planned tangle lineup but today is one of them.
Last week Welsh CZT Joanna Quincey sent me an email sharing the delightful story behind this Ardent tangle we’re about to explore today.
Joanna explains:
Arthur is the 5 year old son of my website designer, Lexi Thurston.
I had sent them some tangling materials and he and Lexi have been creating some tiles after following some of my videos.
In early May, Arthur told his Mum that he was going to create his own tangle and went off with his pens and pencils, finally coming back with an Apprentice Tile filled with his ‘Tangle’.
He was extremely proud and happy with it and Lexi sent me the photos of him holding it. He had even come up with a description to describe what he had drawn – Representing Day and Night Together.
I could see the potential of what he had drawn to become a fragment or Grid tangle and set about creating step-outs.
It has lots of variation potentials by altering where to add ink or shading.
Arthur and I came up with the name Ardent because it starts with the letters of his name, AR and then the first letters of Day & Night Together……ARD’NT = ARDENT
I am super impressed with his creative ability and enthusiasm and am sure he will continue to explore Zentangle in a way that only children can ….with fun, excitement, joy and wonder.
Oh my, that smile!!
I used one of Joanna’s examples as a guide for my example of Ardent.
Joanna illustrates the step-by-step instructions for drawing Arthur’s Ardent below and includes her monotangle tile showing a couple of the possibilities for exploring Arthur’s tangle.
As you enjoy any of the tangles on the site, please leave a comment of thanks and encouragement to show the artists you appreciate them for sharing their creativity to inspire yours. Your thanks helps motivate them to continue to share! And please share a link to your favorite tangles on social media. Thanks!
