Sinchun is another lovely tangle from Yu Ru Chen.
Yu Ru named her tangle in honor of the Chinese New Year, The Year of the Monkey, which began on February 8th this year.
Sinchun starts with a sans-serif letter S as the base. Then after an initial tear-drop shape is added in Step 2, auras that graduate and diminish in size are added and terminate in the base of the S.
If you bear in mind for Step 3 that the next strokes begin part way up the previous one it helps keep the overall shape rounded. This is a fun tangle to draw and you can get into quite a rhythm with it.
Yu Ru illustrates the step-by-step instructions for drawing Sinchun and features it in a very pretty Zentangle® including the Zentangle®-original tangles Printemps, Nipa and Tipple.
Here is Sinchun on a black Zentangle tile together with the Zentangle-originals Zinger, Flux, Printemps and Tipple.
As you enjoy any of the tangles on the site, please do leave a comment of thanks and encouragement to show the artists you appreciate them for sharing their creativity for you to enjoy.

Such a lovely tangle. It took me quite a few tries but I think I have it now. Looking forward to playing with it some more – thank you.
Thanks for sharing. This tangle is good for border as well as for filling. Like it.
It looks like a folded napkin.
What a lovely tangle! Thank you for sharing this!
I love the flowing style patterns,, this is beautiful.
Beautiful pattern – I can’t wait to try it out! 😉
Help! I can’t get this right! Any tips? It’s a lovely pattern and I’d love to be able to do it!
Hi Carol, did you try the tip I included? “Anything is possible, one stroke at a time“™ – be sure to slow down completely and focus on one stroke at a time. Hope that helps!
It is a beautiful tangle but I found it not really easy to draw.
Thanks for sharing!!! Amazing!
Thanks for the Challenge !!!! But I will prevail !!!
How beautiful…..how hard (for me ) to conquer.
Congrats to Yu.Run Chen, hat off !
YESSSS ! I did it. My trick is to begin at the “long” side of the shapes and Push them immediately in the Right direction.
Maybe it works for other sisters-in-arms…..
Pia, Thanks for the tip. I’ll try that next. I’ve almost got it and this might just do the trick.
It is a very beautiful tangle, and once I get it, I’ll definitely be using it.
