How to draw MINOUCHE

Zentangle pattern: Minouche. Image © Linda Farmer and TanglePatterns.com. ALL RIGHTS RESERVED. You may use this image for your personal non-commercial reference only. The unauthorized pinning, reproduction or distribution of this copyrighted work is illegal.CZT Nathalie Marinoff’s eye-catching Minouche is her first tangle pattern on the site. Nathalie, based in New City, New York, was certified at CZT #VI and was so fortunate to return for another adventure at CZT #VIII.

Truly, the Zentangle® training seminar is that compelling, and I am sure I’m not the only CZT who longs to return for more as Nathalie and others have done. Nathalie offers Zentangle classes in Rockland, Westchester, and Bergen County, NY.

She writes, “I looked at a pattern that I received in the mail and I thought that I would try to deconstruct it and see what happens.” As with many tangles, magic happens!

Minouche, a term of affection in French and also the name of artist Henri Matisse’s cat, begins with a dot grid that becomes lost into the tangle of intersecting rice-shapes. What you can do with it after that has many options and in my example I’ve (accidentally) combined a couple of them.

Here are Nathalie’s step-by-step instructions for drawing Minouche and her suggestions for potential variations.
