CZT Nathalie Marinoff’s eye-catching Minouche is her first tangle pattern on the site. Nathalie, based in New City, New York, was certified at CZT #VI and was so fortunate to return for another adventure at CZT #VIII.
Truly, the Zentangle® training seminar is that compelling, and I am sure I’m not the only CZT who longs to return for more as Nathalie and others have done. Nathalie offers Zentangle classes in Rockland, Westchester, and Bergen County, NY.
She writes, “I looked at a pattern that I received in the mail and I thought that I would try to deconstruct it and see what happens.” As with many tangles, magic happens!
Minouche, a term of affection in French and also the name of artist Henri Matisse’s cat, begins with a dot grid that becomes lost into the tangle of intersecting rice-shapes. What you can do with it after that has many options and in my example I’ve (accidentally) combined a couple of them.
Here are Nathalie’s step-by-step instructions for drawing Minouche and her suggestions for potential variations.
Check out the tag nathaliem for more of Nathalie’s patterns on TanglePatterns.com.

Very pretty. A pattern to dazzle the uninitiated (i.e., those who have not discovered for themselves what is possible one stroke at a time).
A super pattern! It’s easy to do and very, very versatile. Thanks for sharing, Nathalie and Linda!
