How to draw BUNZO

Zentangle pattern: BunzoIt’s always exciting when a new official tangle makes its appearance and Bunzo is so much fun to draw! Zentangle® founders Rick and Maria introduced Maria’s new tangle to the CZTs in September and now it’s being released into the wild for everyone to enjoy.

Bunzo is created from just one simple stroke, repeated. “It is a great tangle to shade and it ‘grows’ nicely to fill almost any string. Most elegantly, this tangle is created by using just one elemental shape,” writes Rick.

That elemental shape is a crescent, pretty much like this ) . How simple is that! Throw in a little shading and you’re done.

“Usually we’ll see a pattern and then deconstruct it to create a tangle. With bunzo, it was the other way around; Maria first developed the tangle, then we started seeing it elsewhere.” When you visit the “how to”, you’ll see what Rick is referring to.

Maria illustrates the steps for drawing Bunzo here, and shows it in use in several elegant Zentangles. Maria is expert at creating the tangle enhancer named Sparkle and her last step showing this variation of Bunzo is an excellent of example of how Sparkle can add add a cool new look to a tangle.

End note – I pray you are all safe, warm, and dry and Hurricane Sandy isn’t disrupting your lives too much. This is a very scary “super storm” with so many potentially costly repercussions for everyone in the Northeast, including Canada. We all send our prayers.

I add my thoughts and prayers to Linda’s, for all those people in the path of ‘Sandy’ and the snow storm. We are seeing them on TV and hope everyone stays safe. Having experienced a giant cyclone here 18 months ago, (Yasi) I know how scary they can be……….so stay safe everyone!

It has been 4 months since storm Sandy, but my roof still awaits repair. It could not be fixed in the cold Ohio winter. I feel my husband and i were very lucky-the damage was minimal.

I believe the many people who were in the heart of that storm could still use our prayers. As I do my ZenTangle meditation this afternoon, I prayer the spirit of healing, peace and strength be with them all.

    Blessings
