It’s our first long weekend of this brand new year and a Federal holiday today in the USA in observance of the birthday of the trailblazing activist and brilliant orator Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. “one of the most influential and inspirational African-American leaders in history”.

From his Nobel Peace Prize acceptance speech, Oslo, Norway, 1964:

I believe that unarmed truth and unconditional love will have the final word in reality.

This is why right, temporarily defeated, is stronger than evil triumphant.” ~ Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. quotes on Biography.com

Today’s tangle …

The Zentangle®-original tangle Springkle was released to CZTs in our private newsletter eight years ago, in April 2012.

And though I’m aware there are many tanglers (myself included) who aren’t keen on video-only instructions nevertheless today I decided to add Springkle to our resource because it appeared not long ago in a Zentangle video.

Even without printable steps to refer to offline Springkle is such an easy tangle when you simply follow Maria’s lead in the video.

When Zentangle HQ publishes some of these tangles (where we have video but no printable steps) in their public newsletter I will of course add those links to the appropriate pages on the site. In the meantime, if you feel like it you can use the free forms available on the DOWNLOADS page on the top menu bar to make your own record of the steps.

Springkle is a tangle Maria demonstrated in a video in the Lesson 1 Video of Zentangle’s Project Pack 06.

After she adds both black and white Mooka to her page, and then some Crescent Moon along the Mooka stems, at 6:19 she adds Springkle to the tops of several of the Mooka.

If you want to jump right to the segment where Maria morfs Mooka into Springkle: start the video then slide the red timer dot along to 6:19. Pause and resume as desired.

BTW – the gear icon to the left of the YouTube logo in the lower right corner also gives you the ability to change the playback speed so you can slow down the video to watch the strokes if necessary.

Like the Zentangle-original Zinger, Springkle is a fun element to add to your Zentangles.
