Qian-long is CZT Diane Tai’s second tangle pattern on the site. She recently shared her Lantern-Pho tangle with us.
Diane names the pattern Qian-long, “because it looks like long chains.”
Interestingly, recently I visited the Qianlong Emperor exhibition at National Palace Museum in Taiwan where all the ancient and national treasures are displayed. Emperor Qianlong is the 6th emperor from the Qing Dynasty, which is the last Dynasty in the Chinese history. Because of this, he holds a significant role in the Chinese history, so I’d like to dedicate this pattern to him.

Qian-long is easy to draw and makes a very pretty border or ribbon tangle. You’ll see I played with an embellishment or two in my example 🙂

Your qian-long design is very attractive….I can see myself putting it on a scarf (as soon as I practice tangling on fabric a bit!) I have on a holiday in China, Vietnam and Cambodia the last 2 summers and love the designs I’ve seen there. Thanks so much for contributing your design…it’s a winner.

Diane I like the easy steps you created for Qian-long. I’ll try it out tomorrow on my new set of ensemble tiles. You were such a great roommate during our CZT II training. By the way, how do you pronouce “Qian”?

The way to pronounce “Qian” is just like “Chain” in English! (Sounds like “chain long”, right?)
