Hello there and welcome back for a brand new week of tangle inspiration … and the hopes of the free world resting on tomorrow’s Election results, however many days it takes for our votes to be counted.
Tomorrow, November 5th, is coincidentally my anniversary date of becoming an American citizen. My personal motto for many decades has been Expect Good Things, and I am expecting Democracy (and normalcy) will prevail.
Expect Good Things!
Today’s simple, sweet and decorative Sandl tangle is from Japanese CZT Akiko Tokuse. Sandl is not only easy to tangle, it’s surprisingly versatile as you’ll see in Akiko’s lovely ZIA tiles.
Akiko introduces her tangle:
I love Printemps. I thought that if I lined up these Printemps of my favorites in different sizes, they would spread even more and have more fun, so I came up with this tangle.
Place one small Printemps and one large Printemps on top of the V. It’s a simple tangle, but with a slight change in the lines and the way you combine them, it can spread out greatly.
Small one and large one.
Small and large.
…S and L
…SANDL!!
I hope many people will enjoy it. I’m looking forward to seeing all the different variations that will be created.
For my example of Sandl I used Akiko’s idea of a graphite aura but I also added a dot of Sakura White Gelly Roll pen in the diamond-ish black shapes of Step 5. I used a ribbon-style version but love the way it works “in the round” so easily too.
Akiko illustrates the step-by-step instructions for drawing Sandl below where she demonstrates it in another lovely tile featuring some cool graphite Crescent Moon-ish auras.
