Hello friends, great to see you again!
Welcome to another wonderful new week of fresh tangle inspiration.
Today’s easy ribbon-style Quinque tangle is from Venezuelan CZT Edna Olveira and it’s her first on the site.
Edna became a Certified Zentangle Teacher at CZTEU5, she introduces herself:
I am from Caracas, Venezuela and I am a pharmacist by profession, and an artist at heart because I am also a goldsmith. I was introduced to Zentangle® during the pandemic thanks to a wonderful friend, who made me fall in love with this beautiful method of relaxation not only to rediscover myself but also with art and also meet wonderful and spectacular people.
Edna is the first Venezuelan tangle contributor on the site so of course we turn to Wikipedia to learn a little about her city:
“Caracas, officially Santiago de León de Caracas, abbreviated as CCS, is the capital and largest city of Venezuela … Caracas is located along the Guaire River in the northern part of the country, within the Caracas Valley of the Venezuelan coastal mountain range (Cordillera de la Costa). The valley is close to the Caribbean Sea, separated from the coast by a steep … mountain range, Cerro El Ávila … The Metropolitan Region of Caracas has an estimated population of almost 5 million inhabitants.
… Caracas has a largely service-based economy, apart from some industrial activity in its metropolitan area. … Caracas is also Venezuela’s cultural capital, with many restaurants, theaters, museums, and shopping centers. Caracas has some of the tallest skyscrapers in Latin America … The Museum of Contemporary Art of Caracas is one of the most important in South America.”
As for our easy Monday tangle …
Quinque appears to have come from a challenge inspired by Swiss CZT Annett Ruempler’s Take5, as Edna explains:
Quinque is a word that comes from Latín and means ‘five’ and the idea of this tangle arises from having to use the number 5 in the proposal of a colleague, so it is when I have to include it in my tile that it occurs to me make a combination between the number 5 and the Roman numeral V.
Edna illustrates the step-by-step instructions for drawing Quinque below, “in the example in addition to Quinque I also used Hollibaugh and ‘Nzeppel, both from Zentangle.”
As you enjoy any of the tangles on the site, please leave a comment of thanks and encouragement to show the artists you appreciate them for sharing their creativity to inspire yours. Your thanks helps motivate them to continue to share! And please share a link to your favorite tangles on social media. Thanks!

And a gentle reminder: With Gratitude – Once again it’s time to help keep TanglePatterns online for another great year.

Thus patterns that are drawings of a recognizable naturalistic or actual object, figure, or scene, are not tangles. A pattern is not always a tangle — here's what makes a tangle.
