How to draw FALLDANCE

For those of you expecting a Tangle Refresher on this second Friday of the month: I decided to switch things up a bit this Thanksgiving month and save the Tangle Refresher to appear instead on Black Friday. Thus we have a new tangle treat today instead.

Friday’s tangle is FallDance by New York CZT Beatrice Aronas and it’s her fifth on the site.

Beatrice writes,

Recently my family and I went to the Fall Dance Festival opening night. It is an extraordinary event that takes place every fall at the New York City Center.

And it was even more special as the City Center finally got opened to the public after one year and a half of being closed due to the pandemic. Such joy getting back to normal slowly!

The City Center is housed in a beautiful neo-Moorish theater and it celebrates the best of dance , music and other performing arts.

This time the audience was informed to show up at the door 40 minutes before the start of the performance due to the vaccination proof process.

Since we had to wait before they start the seating, for the first time I had more time there to observe all these amazing murals and polychromed tiles inside of the building. As a Zentangle® artist now I see tangles and patterns whenever I go! (Most tanglers, probably, will agree with me that the world is packed with beautiful tangles and some of them are hiding in the most unexpected places). Among other potential tangles my eyes caught this beautiful but very simple drawing on the ceiling.

I took a picture and on my way home on the train I started to deconstruct it.

A further tidbit about the New York City Center:

Today, New York City Center is the New York performance home to Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Manhattan Theatre Club, The Flamenco Festival, and the Martha Graham Dance Company, to name a few.

Beatrice illustrates the step-by-step instructions for drawing FallDance below and she features it in three lovely ZIA tiles including the Zentangle-originals Printemps and Sez. (Do I spy a dusty plum eye shadow on the top tile?)
