How to draw AAHROMA

Today’s lovely Aahroma tangle is from novelist and tangler Jenna Black. This is Jenna’s ninth great tangle on the site.

She writes,

This one is inspired by the beautiful packaging of a set of essential oils I bought for my aromatherapy diffuser (hence the name).

Natrogix Nirvana Top 18 Essential Oils

It can work well as either a ribbon or a grid, and it can look wildly different depending on what you choose to do with the optional Step 5 embellishment.

It can also have a different feel based on how deep or shallow you draw the ogee grid. (Though personally, I don’t actually draw an ogee grid—I just do staggered rows of curly brackets, which creates the ogee effect much more easily for me.)

I remember Jenna’s easy method of drawing an ogee grid when we added her Shark Kisses tangle. I updated my article – “How to draw three types of grids for your Zentangles” – to include Jenna’s method, oh-so-long-ago.

It would be pretty to use a single element of Aahroma as a focal point, it appears very similar to a seashell …

Jenna illustrates the step-by-step instructions for drawing Aahroma below. She features it in a beautiful tile with a simpler variation, “I’ve used two of my favorite embellishments in the tile, along with a little bit of Betweed and Doodah.
