Hurricane Matthew update this morning: By all reports we’ve dodged a major bullet in South Florida. HUGE sigh of relief 🙂
There are power outages and some downed trees but we’ve been monitoring one of our local TV stations online (www.wpbf.com) and the utility crews already have the downed trees removed from roadways and power is being restored with great efficiency.
We have much to thank ALL those whose job it is to work through situations like this to keep us all safe and restore life to normal as we know it.
The eye of the storm is currently off the northeastern coast of the state around Daytona Beach and still chugging north along the coast. The outer bands of the system are reaching way up the Eastern seaboard of the country.
Thanks so much for all your prayers and thoughts, so far I think we did a great job! Let’s keep those thoughts and prayers coming for all the areas yet to come into Matthew’s path.

Happy Friday, and Happy Thanksgiving weekend in Canada and Columbus Day in the US of A. Bountiful blessings to all!
Jenna Black is back today with Shark Kisses. You may recall she recently shared her Starcrossed tangle with us.
Shark Kisses is created within an ogee grid and Jenna’s method of drawing this type of grid using curly brackets is a very useful technique indeed!
Jenna writes,
“I came up with this pattern accidentally while I was on a zendala kick. I didn’t even notice it was a pattern until I looked back on my zendalas and saw that I’d repeated the same basic shape (the mirrored curly brackets with the rice shape in the middle) several times. I then played around with it and drew a version that had curving ‘teeth’ in it and decided it was my favorite. It’s fun because the central motif can stand alone, be strung together in lines either horizontally or vertically, or can be filled in all the way like a grid.
I called the pattern ‘Shark Kisses’ because the curly brackets remind me of Hershey Kisses and the curving triangles remind me of shark teeth.”
Jenna illustrates the step-by-step instructions for drawing Shark Kisses below and features it in a Zentangle® with Starcrossed and Helen Williams’s Heartswell.

Great tangle, Jenna, looking forward to using it.
Linda, so glad that you and yours escaped the brunt of Matthew!!
Thanks! And sorry not to reply sooner. I’m in NC, and Matthew kept us without power for about 18 hours. Fun stuff.
Thanks for the great tangle.
Linda, keeping you in my thoughts. Hope you and all you love keep safe.
You’re welcome. And enjoy!
A fun tangle to draw, thanks Jenna.
Glad you like it! Happy drawing!
Jenna, I’m so sorry you lost your power for so long because of Matthew, but thank God you seem to be ok other than that, right? Still got your home and everything is good, I hope?
Thanks, this could be a fun one to play with.
