And now it’s almost June. It seems a cliché, but honestly where does the time go??
Robert and I celebrated our 41st wedding Anniversary on Monday and it seems like yesterday we were celebrating our 40th. Funny how when we’re young we want to get older faster, then as we age and appreciate the value of every minute in our lives time just flies. Is that what it means when they say “careful what you wish for”?
On another but passages-related note, I was very saddened to learn today of the death of Canadian artist and philosopher, Robert Genn (05/15/1936-05/27/2014). Robert learned he had pancreatic cancer just before Christmas and passed away on Tuesday morning with his family at his side.
Since the year 2000, his twice-weekly newsletters have been thought-provoking and provided inspiration and his wisdom and insights will be missed by many. Fortunately for the art world, Robert’s daughter Sara will continue the newsletter tradition she has been involved with for many years so Robert will still be with us through her. In today’s newsletter, Sara writes:
Dad’s dream has been to reach artists of all stripes — individuals with a common joy, journeying in this life-enhancing, inexplicable affair of the heart. He wrote, “We have no other motivation than to give creative people an opportunity to share ideas and possibly broaden their capabilities — to get more joy and understanding from their own unique processes.”
If you haven’t subscribed to the free newsletter, I encourage you to. Your art education deserves it. Look for the signup box at the top of the page, I’ve highlighted it here in pink:
In some small way, I hope TanglePatterns helps you broaden your capabilities and get more joy and understanding from your own unique processes. Rest in Peace, Robert. And heartfelt condolences to your family.
