Today, June 1st, is the official first day of the 2012 Hurricane Season yet we’ve already had two named storms. Mother Nature pays no attention to man-made deadlines.
Here on Florida’s First Coast we got a good dousing from TS Beryl over the last week and it is very welcome because we are way overdue for some rain. Could be an interesting summer in the weather department but one of the many great things about Zentangle® is that no fancy equipment is required and we don’t need electricity. Just your pens and your tiles and you’re good to go should storms blow.
The Tangle Refresher series, aka Buried Treasure, highlights hidden tangle gems from the past. It can remind you of patterns you might not have used for a while or introduce you to patterns you might not have come across yet.
Here are five more tangle pattern gems from a year (or two) ago for your tangling pleasure. Zenful tangling!

Since I am still new to tangling these are new to me. Love river stones and will have to give it a try. Thanx so much for sharing these.
Thank you so much for all the wonderful ideas and directions. I can imagine the time you put into this site. It is so much appreciated!!
I understand that a tangle is meant to be unplanned, but can it be true that Cubine wasn’t planned to be 3D cubes?
Hi Edward, it’s a Zentangle that’s unplanned – the tangles making up a Zentangle are simply abstract patterns. Hope that answered your question?
Thanks Linda. Are you the creator?
It seemed so unlikely, but I guess it’s just whatever pops out at the end is a surprise.
Cubine is one of the official tangles created by Rick Roberts and Maria Thomas. The reason I encourage people new to Zentangle to start with the official tangles first is they really are the most elegant and surprising and learning them also teaches what a tangle is all about. If you haven’t already found it, I have a list of all the official tangles here on TanglePatterns. The tangles with online instructions are linked in the list. Cheers and happy tangling!
