How to draw SIWELL

Hello again, many thanks for your company today. Always a pleasure 🙂

Our mid-week ribbon-style tangle SiWell is from German CZT Simone Menzel and it’s her ninth on the site.

Simone writes that SiWell simply appeared while she was tangling in her sketchbook recently. It shares DNA with her very first tangle on the site, MySwing. And recently we revisted her EggAndDart tangle when we introduced Henrike Bratz’s LeafAndDart.

SiWell can be formed in a regular straight ribbon, a wavy one and even in an ogee grid as Simone demonstrates in the steps and tiles on her blog.

Simone gives us a little more background and some tips:

The wave-like string at the start of the pattern is reminiscent of MySwing, but then it continues in a much simpler and more leisurely manner – just a few wide auras – and in the centre of each individual fragment, an orb forms again through ’rounding’ (which, in turn, is reminiscent of MySwing). 

SiWell can be drawn in a wide variety of grids – I like it best when it’s irregular, in a wavy grid.

The auras shouldn’t be too narrow, so that they can still be decorated as you like.

The black ’roundings’ definitely create a great contrast – just be brave!!

Zentangle’s rounding tangle enhancer certainly makes a world of difference with SiWell‘s finished charm.
