How to draw SIRI

Zentangle pattern: Siri. Image © Linda Farmer and TanglePatterns.com. ALL RIGHTS RESERVED. You may use this image for your personal non-commercial reference only. The unauthorized pinning, reproduction or distribution of this copyrighted work is illegal.Last week as I was adding Belgian CZT Ria Matheussen’s Zimba tangle to the site, I wondered how long it would be before someone would do a more literal deconstruction of Ria’s Zimbabwe pattern inspiration.

As it turns out, almost immediately 🙂

German CZT Simone Menzel has done just that. Last month Simone shared her MySwing tangle with us.

Simone writes that after she saw Ria’s Zimba,

“I drew it the same evening and fell in love with it and with the pattern which inspired Ria for her tangle.

So I played a bit around and tried some variations.”

Once she had her deconstruction in place Simone emailed Ria to share her new tangle, “I told her that I would like to name the tangle ‘Siri’.Siri comes from combining Si and Ri, the first two letters of their first names.

Simone illustrates the step-by-step instructions for drawing Siri here on her blog. Simone illustrates Siri as a fragment and shows how to place it in a grid as well as how it works as a border or ribbon-style tangle. She also demonstrates Zimba and Siri side-by-side.

As you enjoy any of the tangles on the site, please do leave a comment of thanks and encouragement to show the artists you appreciate them for sharing their creativity to inspire yours.

Check out the tag simonem for more of Simone’s tangles on TanglePatterns.com.
