How to draw VO

Zentangle pattern: VO. Image © Linda Farmer and TanglePatterns.com. ALL RIGHTS RESERVED. You may use this image for your personal non-commercial reference only. The unauthorized pinning, reproduction or distribution of this copyrighted work is illegal. We start this week with the fun VO tangle from six-year-old Vincent Roller who is blessed with a wonderful Zentangle® advantage.

Vincent’s Mom is German CZT Nadine Roller and they are lucky enough to spend quality time together tangling.

You may recall that Nadine recently shared her Winflow tangle with us. She writes,

“My six year old son asked me if i could send you his pattern ‘VO’ he came up with a few weeks ago while tangling with me.

He would like to call it VO, because there are so many V in it (he loves the V because of his name Vincent 😉 and that the pearls also look like Os. VO!”

As Vincent has deconstructed it VO is a ribbon or border-type tangle. As with most tangles of this type, it makes a perfectly fine fill tangle when placed back to back. It offers a variety of fill and shading options. For my example I simply chose to fill the “star” shapes with graphite.

Vincent delightfully illustrates the step-by-step instructions for drawing his VO tangle here on his Mom’s blog (scroll quite a way down the page). Nadine created several examples to demonstrate Vincent’s tangle and also experiments with several ways to shade VO.

As you enjoy any of the tangles on the site, please do leave a comment of thanks and encouragement to show the artists you appreciate them for sharing their creativity to inspire yours.

Check out the tag vincentr for more of Vincent’s tangles on TanglePatterns.com.

This is such a great tangle, and to realize that it was invented by a six year old child is mind-blowing. I went to the blog, and was also astounded at his suggestion to his mom that they use numbers for the strings on their tiles!! Vincent is a very smart little boy, and I hope he keeps on tangling and bringing us new patterns as he grows.
