How to draw OOF

Zentangle pattern: OoFOoF is a brand new official tangle to add to your repertoire. Rick Roberts and Maria Thomas were in New York City recently teaching a Zentangle® workshop. “On our way home, we stopped in upper Manhattan at The Cloisters which houses the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s medieval art collection. If you ever have a chance to visit this concentration of treasures, please do. If you enjoy discovering patterns, you will be in heaven.”

While at The Cloisters they admired and photographed a stained glass window with a Florz-like pattern and later deconstructed it without using the grid Florz is based on.

OoF also reminds me of Bales drawn without the grid. Either way, this is fun to draw and has so many possibilities for variation. Here I filled in the diamond shapes of the original basic pattern. I played with quite a few more variations too but thought I’d stick with the basic for illustration purposes so you can come up with your own takes on OoF.

The name OoF stands for “Out of Focus” and is explained when you visit their instructions for drawing the tangle pattern OoF here.
