How to draw HEART LINX

Hi everyone and happy Friday to ya.

Seems we’re about to see one of our epic winter storms this weekend, so I hope you stay safe and warm. It’s a perfect time for a cup of hot chocolate while doing a little tangling!

Heart Linx is from Texas CZT Leslee Feiwus and it’s her fourth on the site.

Leslee explains the touching origins of her sweet tangle,

Heart Linx was born out of a heart necklace that my two daughters gave me as a birthday gift one year.

My older daughter, Melissa, who found this awesome necklace with a handmade chain died 8 yrs ago and I often hold onto it when it’s around my neck and think about how the 3 of us will always be linked together. This necklace brings me peace and calmness and a closeness to both of them.

I thought this would make a nice tangle to bring those feelings onto paper.

You can use this tangle as a border, string or in a circle for the circle of life. The hearts can go in all directions. You can leave it plain or you can add other tangles in each heart.

I’ll confess I found Heart Linx quite challenging to visualize where and how the intersections/overlaps take place to get a pleasing-to-me result. But a few practice runs gave me something I wasn’t embarrassed to share 😉

CZT Carole Ohl’s Tangled Love Tutorial

In a related concept, quite a few years ago – nine to be precise – Ohio CZT Carole Ohl posted a tutorial on her blog called Tangled Love, “a little something fun to try if you are making Valentines this year.” (I’ve published the link to Carole’s tutorial here in the past, for those who feel like they’re seen this before.)

Tangled Love is a technique tutorial and not a tangle because it begins with pencil planning, which by now we should all know is not Zentangle 😉 It’s a fun challenge if you’re feeling like exploring something a little different.
