How to draw MONTANA

Here we are at the start of another week, with a new tangle to explore. Welcome 🙂

As is our custom we begin the week with a super easy and versatile tangle. You can fill a section of your tile with this one or use it as a ribbon running through it, or use it as a frame for your tile.

Today’s Montana tangle is from Texas CZT Suzanne McNeill who has dozens of fun tangles on the site, all originally published in her series of Zentangle® booklets. You’ll find many of them listed on the BOOK REVIEWS tab on the top menu bar of any page on the site.

Montana was published in Suzanne’s Zentangle 9: Color with Mixed Media. For more details about this publication and a description of its contents, check out Suzanne’s Tree Rings from earlier this year.

Montana has all kinds of possibilities for variations and embellishing. For my example I simply added weight on the left side of the large triangles and liked how it added a bit of dimension. But ZIA color, graphite shading, ink fills, other simple fill marks such as those as we use with the Zentangle-original Tripoli, or even other tangles are all fun options to explore here Not to forget mirroring the rows.
