How to draw SKYESIL

Hi there!

Today we’re visiting the Isle of Skye as well as the oldest city in Germany and we don’t even need passports — or masks — to get there because we’re traveling through the magic of the internet 🙂

Today’s Skyesil tangle is from German tangler Helen Weber and it’s her first on the site.

Helen is from the oldest city in Germany, Trier. She introduces herself and her Skyesil tangle,

I am not a CZT (although I hope to become one at some point), but I am so grateful to the Zentangle Method™.

When I learnt about Zentangle® in 2016, I was convinced that my art teacher at school was right and that I had no talent for drawing. But all my life I wanted to be able to put something on paper that I like. Who would have thought that the Zentangle Method would teach me so wonderfully!

Skyesil is inspired by a silver chain I saw in a shop on the beautiful Scottish island of Skye (to this day I regret not having bought it).

But maybe the pattern can comfort me … above all, I would be very happy if someone would enjoy it!

I spend a lot of time learning about Skye and Trier and was so overwhelmed with cool and interesting information that I decided to let you follow those links yourselves. Trust me, it’s worth it! However, I am sharing this photo of Helen’s charming home town of Trier …

Helen might not recognize her tangle in my example, and you probably won’t either when you see her steps. I went way off the rails with Skyesil but I just followed my Micron and it’s where I ended up. When you examine Step 4 closely you’ll see that Skyesil is composed of four very large S-shapes emanating from the center point each with long, long tails finishing up opposite the top of the S. And when you’ve finished Step 4 you have an interesting set of shapes to fill with whatever comes to mind — or wherever your Micron takes you.
