How to draw PERSIAN RUG

Zentangle pattern: Persian Rug. Image © Linda Farmer and TanglePatterns.com. ALL RIGHTS RESERVED. You may use this image for your personal non-commercial reference only. The unauthorized pinning, reproduction or distribution of this copyrighted work is illegal.Hi there and welcome back!

Here we are, another fine Monday, and another fun and easy tangle to add to your repertoire.

Persian Rug is from Texas CZT Suzanne McNeill. In addition to being a CZT, Suzanne was the owner of the Design Originals publishing company until she sold it to Fox Chapel Publishing some years ago (for more details see How to draw BELTED). Design Originals released many, many creativity publications across the arts and crafts fields.

The Persian Rug tangle was introduced in Suzanne’s Zentangle 7: Inspiring Circles, Zendalas & Shapes, one of her series of Zentangle booklets. As we approach the holiday and gift-giving season these booklets make delightful inexpensive gifts to introduce friends and family to the relaxing fun of this wonderful art form. Just sayin’.

From Zentangle 7:

“Bring your Zentangles full circle with 40 new tangle patterns and ideas for making beautiful Zendalas. Talented Certified Zentangle Teachers share their tips and designs for using watercolors and circular stencils, making mini Zendalas on metal rim tags, creating a Zendala spinner, or using the pre-strung tiles.”

See the BOOK REVIEWS tab for more on this and the rest of the publications in this series.

Suzanne illustrates the step-by-step instructions for drawing Persian Rug below and she includes two pretty variations to explore. Fox Chapel Publishing (who hold the copyright) and Suzanne have graciously given me permission to post her copyright-protected images on TanglePatterns for your personal offline reference. Reposting/republishing is not permitted.

Thus patterns that are drawings of a recognizable naturalistic or actual object, figure, or scene, are not tangles. A pattern is not always a tangle — here's what makes a tangle. TIP: tangles never start with pencil planning.
