Today’s pretty ribbon-style Prelude tangle is from New York CZT Beatrice Aronas and it’s her sixth on the site.
Beatrice sent this to me right before Christmas but I wasn’t able to fit it in so we’re enjoying it today complete with her beautiful ZIA and her sweet story.
Beatrice writes,
Tangles are like thoughts. If they are untidy in time, they disappear as suddenly as they appear. When you start to play with the new tangle line combinations, at first, it seems that maybe something is interesting here, then a doubt arises that maybe there is already a similar pattern or that we already have so many tangles, and do we need another one? After all, some talented people create magically beautiful drawings using one tangle or two.
The other day, while flipping through older sketchbooks, I found many of my sketches and variations for this tangle. I was working on it a year ago and had drawn several tiles with these tangles, and they were posted on some of our favorite platforms. They started their journey, and then they quietly fell into oblivion. I didn’t come back to this tangle until today.
So now I am sending it to your attention with the hope that it will fit an amazing Zentangle family and will find it’s space in the world of many incredible tangles.
I decided to call this versatile tangle Prelude, and I want to tell you why. Right now, when I am working on this pattern, I am staying in the town of Kennebunkport in Maine. Every year the first two weeks of December, the Beach Christmas Prelude festival takes place in this beautiful sea town. The streets smell of hot chocolate, and the city is full of fun and bustle at fairs, art shops, and restaurants.
Such a wonderful time of the year!
Here’s to the notion that Prelude is an introduction, with or without aromas of hot chocolate, to a wonderful year ahead … For my example I used a combination of ideas from Beatrice’s examples. The possibilities are delightful to explore.
Beatrice illustrates the step-by-step instructions for drawing Prelude below where she includes several lovely 3Z Zentangle® tiles demonstrating its versatility.
As you enjoy any of the tangles on the site, please leave a comment of thanks and encouragement to show the artists you appreciate them for sharing their creativity to inspire yours. Your thanks helps motivate them to continue to share! And please share a link to your favorite tangles on social media. Thanks!
