Get your TANGLE GUIDE, 2023 Edition now! TANGLE GUIDE, 2023 EditionGreetings! And many thanks for your patience … running a little behind this year!

However … I’m dee-lighted to announce that the new updated TANGLE GUIDE, 2023 Edition eBook is now available for instant download from the STORE > EBOOKS page.

Creating the TANGLE GUIDE is a labor of love for me and it’s such fun reviewing all the great new tangles added in the last year as well as time-traveling through all the wonderful “oldies”. They hold a lot of Zentangle® history.

Purchasing your copy of the GUIDE is a huge win-win  — you get an awesome time-saving tool for using while helping keep the site available to you online.

BTW, eBooks are electronic books you download instantly to your computer at the time of purchase. Hard copies are not available (although you can print your own), nothing will be physically mailed to you.

I hope you enjoy using this indispensable resource (“a wonderful reference guide“) and will encourage your tangling friends to get their own copy. A shout out on social media and to your tangling friends would be most appreciated 🙂

Each year the GUIDE is revised, updated then published in the second week of January to include all the tangles from the previous year and add a new feature or two. This edition integrates all of the tangles on the site from May 2010 through December 31st, 2022. Approximately 1,900 tangles!

The BOOK REVIEWS page has more details and a sample page if you want to learn more.

Continuing her TANGLE GUIDE tradition CZT Michele Beauchamp has tangled her marvelous Zentangle®-inspired art for the cover. In her ZIA Michele features many of the tangles that appeared on the site during 2022. This Edition also contains two more pages of Michele’s distinctive and exquisite Zentangle artistry. They’re the icing on the cake!!

This year’s TANGLE GUIDE has grown to a 103-page (50 MB) PDF resource with the tangle images hot-linked to their post on this site. See a tangle you want to learn (or refresh), simply click or tap the image and you’re instantly transported to the instructions.

Awesome extra features!

Several extra features and articles make the TANGLE GUIDE an indispensable aid to using the site. It’s not only fantastic having a printed version to refer to, but where the Guide really shines is as an interactive digital aid.

On page 2 the “Guide Contents” directory has “Quick Links” so you can jump to any section of the Guide. Even better, on page 10 where “The Tangles” begin there’s a “Quick Links” feature so you can jump immediately to any letter of the alphabet when you’re looking for a particular tangle.

For your convenience the GUIDE includes a page with links to my detailed summaries of all of the Zentangle Project Packs to date.

As always this edition contains a reprint of CZT Sandy Hunter‘s excellent article, A post with no pictures. Sandy has graciously given me permission to include her article “in perpetuity” 🙂

Also updated is the “Zentangle Terminology” section with new terms (eg. Zentomology) added during the last year. When you see an unfamiliar term, or want to refresh your memory, you’ll have this handy reference at your offline fingertips.

To get your copy of the new TANGLE GUIDE click the cover image above or go to the top menu bar on any page on the site and select the STORE > EBOOKS page.

Technical stuff – what to expect …

Please take a moment to read the important information at the top of that page before you purchase the TANGLE GUIDE and note there are several eBooks on that page so TAKE YOUR TIME AND CHOOSE YOUR PURCHASE CAREFULLY!

The entire download process is automated and instantaneous — when your transaction has successfully completed your browser will be redirected to another page containing your personalized secure download link. To avoid file corruption, you must SAVE the document to your device before you attempt to open it. Once it has downloaded completely to your device you can then open the document from your device and print it.

If your browser fails to redirect you to your download page, your secure download link is also sent automatically to the email address you used in PayPal. If you use the email address of a “significant other”, remember to let them know you are expecting a confirming email with your download link so they don’t delete your email by mistake.

BTW, Gmail is known to flag regular emails as spam or junk so if you don’t see the PayPal email in your Gmail inbox, check those folders.

For Security Reasons Your Download Link is Time Sensitive!

For server security reasons your link is time-sensitive and expires within 5 days of your transaction.

Be sure to download the file as soon as you complete your transaction: either (1) through the page your browser is redirected to (2) or using your personal link in the email you received.

You don’t have to open an account to use PayPal: when you check out you will be given the choice of paying with a PayPal account OR scroll down the checkout page for debit or credit card options. If you choose to pay with an e-check, in 3-5 days when your check clears your download link will be sent to the email address you used in PayPal.

How to order by mailNote: If you prefer to make your purchase by mail, you can send a check or money order (US$ money order if you are from outside the USA) with your email address PRINTED CLEARLY to:

Linda Farmer,, PO Box 880386, Port St Lucie FL 34988. When your payment is received I will email you an eBook download link.

A word about the alphabetic sorting of the tangles for those who are bound to ask. In earlier editions to simplify the sorting task I used Microsoft Word and its criteria for alphabetical sorting – and it is undeniably quirky. Now I organize the list to correspond (mostly) with the sequence the tangles are displayed on the site, which also has its own software quirks.

Spread the word!

Please spread the word on social media, in a post and/or add a “badge” for the new TanglePatterns TANGLE GUIDE on your blog – see the bottom of the RIGHT sidebar for the easy copy-and-paste code. (The image will be updated with the current one soon, technical snafu.)

Encouraging your tangling friends to support the site by getting their copy of the latest edition is so greatly appreciated.

Keep your file in a safe place

Keep a backup copy in a safe place such as a memory stick. Due to the frequency of requests to replace lost files and the personal time involved in handling these requests, lost files are not replaced free.

Paraphrasing the late Canadian artist Robert Genn, I’d love to do it, but I’d need an extra week tacked onto every day. Replacements for lost files can be ordered and downloaded from the STORE > EBOOKS page.

And as always, your feedback, comments and suggestions are always most welcome.

Thanks for supporting the site with your purchase!

ENJOY, Cheers and happy tangling!

    Hi Linda,
I wish to purchase the 2023 edition of the Tanglepatterns, as I have in the past. Two issues:
    1. I had a breach in my PayPal acct, so I have temporarily shut it down; want to just pay w/my new credit card.
    2. I want to make a donation, but I don’t see a place for that when I place the book order. Is it required to make two separate purchaes?

    Thanks, Cindy Haller

      Hi Cindy,
Thanks for your questions. Please see the section “You don’t have to open an account to use PayPal” above in the post. As to your second question regarding a donation, you can either do that separately (visit the SUPPORT TANGLEPATTERNS page, top menu bar) or you can do it when purchasing the GUIDE by editing the total payment amount in your cart to add your donation. Thank you so much, your support helps make possible and is sincerely appreciated! Cheers, Linda

Yippee! I just bought my copy and made my donation!! It’s always a great day when the announcement comes in January that the newest edition is out. I get so much use out of my edition each year and the added features like Glossary and quick links to letters makes my tangling experience so much easier. This always goes right onto my iPad for daily use no matter where I am. As always, the donation is my small way of saying thank you for all the work and energy keeping the site up and active and current 🙂 It’s important to give back <3
