This week my mind is still down under with the “Harry and Megan” tour of Australia, and today we have Trumpets from Aussie tangler Helen Williams.
Helen writes that she’s been having “a thing for diamond shapes in patterns of late“.
Trumpets is her latest exploration and she notes, “depending on where you focus, a different set of trumpet ‘flowers’ come forward/go back in the design.”
As Jem Miller notes in her comment on Helen’s blog, Trumpets can have the look of cut crystal glass. Depending on how you ink or shade the shapes within the tangle, you can create a variety of different looks for this tangle. As I’ve mentioned elsewhere, when you fill grid tangles methodically you will often discover additional interesting patterns within as in the example on the left below – an “unfinished” Trumpets.

Helen illustrates the step-by-step instructions for drawing Trumpets here on her blog where she shares photos of her beautiful daffodil inspirations and also explores Trumpets on a wonky grid. Wonky grids can turn so many grid-based patterns into a fun tangling experience.
As you enjoy any of the tangles on the site, please leave a comment of thanks and encouragement to show the artists you appreciate them for sharing their creativity to inspire yours. Your thanks helps motivate them to continue to share!
Check out the tag helenw for more of Helen’s tangles on TanglePatterns.com.

Share your Tangle on TanglePatterns
Have you created a tangle you'd like to share with the community? I'd love to see it.
You do not need to be a CZT to submit a pattern. Many of the tangles on TanglePatterns began as ideas shared by readers just like you.
Before sending your pattern, please take a few minutes to review What Makes a Zentangle® Tangle? and How to Submit Your Pattern Deconstruction to TanglePatterns. These pages on the SUBMIT YOUR PATTERN menu explain what qualifies as a tangle and how to prepare your pattern.
Not every pattern will be selected for publication, but I sincerely appreciate everyone who takes the time to share their creativity and contribute to TanglePatterns.
When you're ready, simply send your pattern by email following the instructions on the submission page.
I look forward to seeing what you've created.

Very nice that this pattern gives so many variations, I like it, especially the wonky grid is so beautiful!
Thank you. I am new and your instructions were very clear and easy to follow. Now I need to go through it again! I am finding that I sleep better and even dream about Tangke patterns! Thanks again.
Wow… this tangle is so cool. Lots of steps but they all make sense. Thank you for this. I normally don’t like grid tangles, but I like this one.
