Trilad is Taiwan CZT Laura Liu’s third tangle on the site.
Laura is one of the principals of the CZT-Asia program, which has “graduated” many new Certified Zentangle Teachers in Asia in its first two seminars in 2016. For 2017 the upcoming seminars being offered in Taiwan are: CZT-Asia #3, July 25 – 28, 2017 and CZT-Asia #4, August 1 – 4, 2017 at FUSHIN HOTEL, New Taipei City. For more information check out this link.
For more information on the history of the entire CZT Program, visit ZENTANGLES > TEACHING ZENTANGLE > HISTORY OF THE CZT SEMINAR PROGRAM on the top menu bar of any page.
As for Trilad, Laura writes that its name comes from the abbreviation of Triangle Ladder. Logical!
Laura usually plans her Zentangle® lessons over Facetime together with her daughter CZT Diane Tai.
I always keep a scrap paper with me while chatting with Diane.
When we talked about the 3z tile, all of a sudden, I drew several triangles while turning the paper without thinking.
Thus Trilad is a bonus side-product of Laura and Diane’s lesson planning discussion. It’s a radial-style tangle composed entirely of triangles which are then filled with whatever strikes your creative urges.
Laura illustrates the simple step-by-step instructions for drawing the basic Trilad structure below.
Here Laura demonstrates Trilad in two sweet Bijou tiles. Much like the Zentangle-original Tripoli it offers endless options for fills with a wide variety of fun and effective results.
As you enjoy any of the tangles on the site, please do leave a comment of thanks and encouragement to show the artists you appreciate them for sharing their creativity to inspire yours.

this one looks fun
This is very cool! Thanks, Laura and Linda!
This is one beautiful, geometric tile. So unique !
Cool addition! I, like so many others, enjoy drawing ZIA gardens. I can’t wait to turn this into a geometric flower.
Hello Laura Liu, I just tried ‘trilad’ and like it. My sense of geometrics tells me there’s lots to play with here, thank you.
Thank you for a fun geometric tangle that will be lots of fun to play with.
I like this one very much. Fun to do and just by changing th angles you get neat affects.
That’s a really cute tangle, Laura, and I love the Bijou tiles you created to show its possibilities. Thank you ever so much for sharing it with us.
