As I’m pretty sure most of you know, tomorrow, July 4th, is the 250th Anniversary of the birth of the USA so this is a pretty super-charged long weekend for neighborhood and family celebrations of all kinds. I hope everyone enjoys a safe and festive holiday.
And lest those of you who’ve been with me for years think I’ve lost the plot, I have not overlooked the Grand Départ for the 2,063-mile long 2026 Tour De France launching tomorrow (July 4th) in Barcelona with a Team Time Trial, back after a 7-year absence. Quite the viewing dilemma for we armchair sports fans, the FIFA World Cup 2026™ now getting down to serious business, or the 2026 Tour de France, hmmm … Thank heavens for DVRs. 🙂
Japanese CZT Yuriko Kagitani shares her lovely chain-like Chag tangle with us today and it’s her seventh tangle on the site.
Yuriko introduces Chag and gives some tips for tangling it:
I came up with this tangle while practicing “Drawing Behind.”
One thing I would especially like you to notice is the filled black areas added in Step 3.
When drawing tangles with overlaps, I often find myself hesitating about where the lines should connect. By adding these filled areas, I can move on to the next step without any confusion or hesitation.
When repeated, the pattern reminded me of a row of batteries. I named it “Chag” from the idea of “charge,” with the hope that anyone who draws this tangle will feel recharged and energized.
Yuriko illustrates the step-by-step instructions for drawing Chag below where she includes lots of fun ways to play with this sweet ribbon-style tangle.
