How to draw PS23

The unauthorized pinning, reproduction or distribution of this copyrighted work is illegal.New York tangler Susan Pundt and her husband Peter recently celebrated their 55th Wedding Anniversary a couple of weeks ago on June 23rd. Peter, Susan, 23rd = PS23. Many congratulations to you both on your amazing milestone!

PS23 is Susan’s third tangle on the site, Flowervine was her first from several years ago and it’s still one of the site’s favorites.

PS23 the tangle is the result of Susan’s explorations with the number 5 as she explains …

I have had 5’s on my mind this week, yesterday [June 23] being Peter’s and my 55th wedding anniversary.

I know that there is a pattern using the numeral “3”, but the numeral 5 can be very versatile, too.

One short line, one shorter line, and a “C” curve and it’s ready to be played with in so many ways.

Facing, opposing, straight, semigridded, circled, rightside-up, upside-down, with or without auras or connecting lines.

What fun I had.

In Susan’s examples below she includes a variety of ways to play with PS23 as she describes above. My example is a straightforward ribbon of “facing 5’s” and it’s fun how easily these turn into a spiraled chain with the 5’s disappearing into the pattern.

Susan illustrates the step-by-step instructions for drawing PS23 and variations below and she features it in a monotangle Zentangle® tile embellished with auras. Loads of possibilities for changing this one up …
