Oh my, it’s getting closer and closer!
Christmas celebrations are getting underway in earnest now.
Tomorrow night (Saturday, December 10th, 2016), my former home town of Fort Lauderdale launches its annual Winterfest Boat Parade.
Deck the Hulls
This year sponsored by the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, this parade has been a tradition for years for boats of all stripes and sizes to be decorated from stem to stern (“Deck the Hulls”) and traverse the New River from the Broward Center for the Performing Arts in downtown Fort Lauderdale and up the Intracoastal Waterway to Lake Santa Barbara in Pompano Beach.
“It’s 12 Miles of the ‘Greatest Show on H2O’. “
Private boats to the giant showboats and corporate megayachts will be adorned with hundreds of thousands of lights, music, entertainment, decorations, celebrities, musical groups, beauty queens and many other exciting entries expected to be viewed by over one million spectators. Parade highlights: Grand Marshal Showboat, Galleria Mall Reindeer Barge and the Santa Showboat.
Hotels along the New River and the Intracoastal become booked up with “Viewing Parties” for revelers seeking the best bird’s-eye vantage point to hear the music and enjoy the colorful parade.
It’s “bigly” party time and the height of the Christmas season in the area. Grand Marshal for the occasion this year is Miami’s own rapper Pitbull.
It’s a great local tradition that’s pretty unique for the season and for the last several years has been broadcast on live television. According to the event’s website, this year EyeOnSouthFlorida.com will stream the Parade live. So if you feel like participating in a Southeast Florida Christmas tradition, check it out tomorrow night. The parade starts at 7 PM Eastern and parties on for about 2 1/2 hours.
What traditions does your community have to celebrate Christmas?

The Tangle Refresher series, aka Buried Treasure, spotlights hidden tangle gems from the past. It can remind you of tangles you might not have used for a while or introduce you to some you haven’t come across yet.
I hope you get as much enjoyment going back and looking at the “history” of the tangles as I do. I encourage you to visit each of them – even if the patterns are familiar to you – to see if there’s a tip or technique there you might learn or be reminded of. So much gets buried in the flow of new tangles and this series is a quick and easy way to brush up.
Here are five more tangle pattern gems and a Tangle Refresher from a year (or two) ago for your tangling pleasure. Remember to check out the “More Good Stuff” links below too.
BTW as you visit these tangles please do leave a comment of thanks and encouragement to show the artists you appreciate them for sharing their creativity to inspire yours. And please share a link to your favorite tangles with your followers on all your social media. Thanks!
Zenful tangling!
