How to draw PING

Today’s tangle Ping is another one from Yu Ru Chen, who recently shared her Croissant tangle with us.

Yu Ru was suddenly struck with inspiration for Ping while playing the game “Candy”. (Not a game person myself but I’m guessing many of you will know what she’s talking about.)

She drew the pattern on paper then developed the steps from there. The name has no special significance, she writes, it’s just that the pattern steps look a little like the letter “P”. I see Crescent Moon ladybugs.

Yu Ru  illustrates the step-by-step instructions for drawing Ping here and shows it with several variations together in the second column with a variation of the Zentangle-original tangle Shattuck. I used one of Yu Ru’s variations (4th column) for my example and as tangles have no right side up, show it from another perspective.

In this Zentangle® tile Yu Ru features Ping together with two Zentangle-original tangles Pokeleaf and Paradox. Yu Ru sent this tangle and its examples to me before I posted CZT Margaret Bremner’s string this past weekend (TanglePatterns String 200), but it appears a mirror image with a little variation.
