After a couple of ribbon or border-type tangles, it’s time for a grid-based one. Sails is from Aussie tangler Helen Williams who has shared several lovely and popular tangles with us.
Sails is a tangleation of the Zentangle®-original tangle Chillon.
Helen has extracted practically every possible way to embellish Chillon in her lovely Sails version in her original post here on her blog, where you can find the downloadable steps and multiple variations.
And recently Helen added this video demonstration of the basic Sails as well.
Helen’s video is also posted here on her blog.
Helen’s Zentangle-inspired examples are quite a bit larger than you would find for the Zentangle Method, but they usually scale down well for a Zentangle tile.
Check out the tag helenw for more of Helen’s tangles on TanglePatterns.com.

Helen,
What a wonderful tangle. I’m going to have fun with this one. And thanks for the video too. It’s always a good learning experience for me to watch how someone else draws.
Helen:
Thank you for sharing the SAILS tangle. I luv it. You can do so many variations. I always liked this type of patterns.
