How to draw ON TARGET

Are we all On Target for the holidays? 😉

This very cool tangle pattern is shared by California tangler Barbara Finwall who recently shared the popular Gnarly with us. On Target reminds me a little of Sue Zanker’s Gord, and also Barbara’s Zonked as they all have an appealing Op Art look to them.

Barbara was visiting a friend and admired a vase created by her friend’s daughter, Valerie. Barbara asked and received permission to use this photo of the wonderful vase inspiring Barbara’s On Target.

On Target is a very simple tangle and I particularly enjoyed the challenge of coloring the solid black areas … and getting them right! I found it helped to first do the alternating solid inner squares on the entire grid  and then work outwards from there on each square. It gives such a great effect in a larger area as you’ll appreciate below in Barbara’s Zentangle®. Remember that you can always “warp” your grid too.
