Lealad is a pretty tangle pattern from Hungary’s Lily Moon who shared her beautiful Amphora tangle with us earlier this year. Lily has also contributed several strings to our community resource.
Lily writes, “I played with words Leaf and Ladder and I named it Lealad.”
This simple tangle created on a channel grid is enhanced with shading to add depth. After a few goes at Lealad, I found I got the best results by drawing the finishing horizontal lines across all of the columns at once instead of working all the way down each one at a time. FWIW.
Lily illustrates the step-by-step instructions for drawing Lealad here on her blog (click on the image to enlarge it) and she shows it in two beautiful Zentangles. While you’re there, be sure to check out the header on her page displaying several more of her lovely and very detailed Zentangles.
Update September 2019: There appears to be a technical issue with Lily’s blog so until it gets resolved here are Lily’s steps for your convenience. Kindly do not pin or post elsewhere.

This reminds me of a very delicate French wallpaper I had in bedroom when I was a child. Thanks for recalling a memory of happy times. I’m looking forward to adding this charming pattern to my drawings.
Love the new tangle, thanks for sharing.
Was für ein schönes Tangle. Ich habe es auf eine Christbaumkugel gezeichnet. Es war ein Geschenk, dass viel Freude bereitet hat.
Google Translate: What a beautiful Tangle. I drew it on a Christmas ornament. It was a gift that much joy has prepared.
Thank you so much to everyone and happy tangling to you all 🙂

Hello Zentangle Artists.
I love the work that is posted. I just cannot keep up!
On Dec. 15 my husband and flew home from Vancouver. I spent the entire 4 hour flight drawing Zentangles. I made 6 finishing about 40 minutes before landing. I gave them to the crew as a thank you. They were delighted. Where one signs one’s name I added, Thank you, flight 3 and my passenger seat + Merry Christmas. I worked on the original size ones as I had run out of the Bijou cards. I did those on the flight to Vancouver.
I am not a good flyer so working on the Zentangles kept me calm and it was a lovely way to say thank you. Try it next time you fly. 4 hours = 6 original sized Zentangles!!
I made a copy, ready to get started.
