How to draw JESSICUP

The unauthorized pinning, reproduction or distribution of this copyrighted work is illegal. Here’s an easy, whimsical tangle for your collection. JessiCup is a sweet new tangle pattern from Connie Taylor of the English market town of Oakham in the UK and it’s her first on the site.

A friend asked me to decorate a set of crockery for her for Christmas. Her name is Jessica, but I call her Jessi-Cup. And because her crockery were the first items I decorated with this pattern I called it JessiCup.  :),” writes Connie.

After working in HR in a corporate environment I took redundancy in spring 2012 to spend more time with my family (I have three children; a boy aged 6, and a boy and a girl, both aged 3).  I always had a creative ‘streak’ but due to the pressures of work and family I never was in the right frame of mind to express it, too. Through volunteering at my children’s school and nursery at their fundraising events i realised that I was really good at face painting, and soon started my own little Face Painting Business ‘Funkie Faces – Face Painting’. I discovered Zentangle® purely by coincidence and loved it instantly. I decorated my face painting mugs (to wash my brushes with…) with Zentangle patterns … soon my mugs were a talking point as much as my face painting.

I love Zentangle, as it is the perfect combination of ‘mindful’ stillness and creativity – I can relax while I tangle, and the results are often unexpected and breathtaking.

What a perfect description of the Zentangle experience.

JessiCup is a very simple border tangle I’m sure you’ll enjoy and it comes along quite quickly. Connie illustrates the steps for drawing JessiCup below and for an example of JessiCup in use she includes a pretty tangled ceramic heart with her pattern around the top.
