Today’s striking and super easy tangle pattern, Logjam, comes from California CZT and graphic designer Wayne Harlow.
You may recall Wayne deconstructed the very popular Crusade tangle for us a while ago.
Wayne writes Logjam is,
“very simple and is easy to adapt to any space. While simple to draw, it can look quite striking, especially with a bit of shading. I call it Logjam because it makes me think of a bunch of logs that have floated down the river and accumulated near the mill.
There is a lot of flexibility in the order of strokes to draw this pattern. Since I’ve been drawing it, I have done it lots of ways so I encourage people to feel free to draw it any way that feels comfortable. I guess that advice applies to all tangles really.”
When you start playing around with Logjam, you’ll see what Wayne means about there being lots of ways to accomplish it. I also found I preferred to turn my drawings “sideways” so the curved strokes are pulled towards me, for a little better control. Remember that turning your tile is always an important part of drawing with comfort in the Zentangle® Method.
Here Wayne illustrates the steps for drawing Logjam and features it in a Zentangle® along with his Crusade tangle.

This is great!! Reminds me of Planeteen, and I think I want to use them together somehow. Time to go draw….
this one will be fun
Oh wow!! Really love that!!!!!
I love this, but it doesn’t look like log jam! To me it looks just like cinnamon rolls before you cut them! Wayne I love the tile you sent, your Crusade is one of my favorites and yours just looks so good!
Another great pattern by Wayne – can’t wait to try this, pity I have to get ready for work 😉
Cool tangle, Wayne. Love the combination of these three patterns together on your tile. Great job on the shading, too.
Very nice pattern and fun! I love your tile as well. Your Crusade pattern is a perfect match for your Log Jam Pattern!
