Brief announcements

Just a quick note today to alert you to a couple of housekeeping items at TanglePatterns.

Season's Greetings!Christmas Gift Orders

First of all, if you are planning on ordering an Official Zentangle® Kit in time for Christmas gift-giving, please place your order by this Sunday (December 11th) at 10 PM Eastern. This will ensure that your order ships in time to arrive before Christmas.

If you order after Sunday I’ll still ship immediately, but at this busy time of year there’s no guarantee you’ll receive it in time for Christmas.

Website Technical Updates

I’m currently working to improve TanglePatterns mobile and iPad/tablet users’ experience. If you access TanglePatterns by mobile or tablet computer and you experience “weird stuff” happening, I’d appreciate hearing from you by email (see upper left corner of the sidebar) so I can address any issues that arise.

Not that I don’t love hearing from you, but I’m hoping not to hear from too many of you in this case because that’ll mean it’s working just fine 😉

Be Mindful, Be Safe

I don’t know what it’s like where you are, but here in Florida at this time of year traffic is horrendous. And drivers are even crazier. Every other one is talking on their cell phones (or God forbid, texting) – and totally not paying attention to the road, the traffic lights, or the other drivers.

When you are on the roads at this busy time of year, please look after yourself and your loved ones by being mindful. Smell the fresh air, enjoy your surroundings, appreciate the moment … and be alert for the crazies. Arrive alive.

</end of my Public Service Announcement>

Be safe, y’all. Back tomorrow with another Refresher!

"Absolutely the best Zentangle Book yet! As an accomplished artist I used to think I did not need instruction on this art form. How wrong I was! My tangling improved by leaps and bounds after reading this book. If you think you have Zentangle down then you need this book more than ever!" ~ Kris H

iPad is working fine for me. I can look at the patterns and go to the websites so I can try them out in my sketchbook. iPad is the way to go when learning a new pattern.

It would be so awesome to have an app! It could have all the patterns in it, with a daily feed. I’d totally download that!!!

I received an email asking about the mobile experience and thought I should clarify for others who might be wondering …

I’m not referring here to an app, you simply access the site from your mobile device’s browser and initially you will see the TanglePatterns website as if it was on your desktop computer. Then if you scroll/swipe all the way down to the very bottom of the page, you’ll be given an option to switch to the mobile view (and back again if you want). That’s all there is to it.

Personally, I prefer the web view (desktop view) myself because I like to see all of a web page when I visit a site, not just a list. But many people are used to the mobile view, so I wanted to provide that option.

Thanks to Kathryn for the great question!

Great job on the PSA! Crazy people are every where and we need to watch for them.

Hope you don’t go crazy before Christmas and are able to enjoy the holiday.

    Merry Christmas!

  • Judi

Thanks for the info, Linda. And, yes, let’s all watch out for the crazy drivers! I’m in NY right now and our condo is very near to a mall…..you can only imagine the adventures in driving we experience in December! LOL May you and yours have a wonderful Christmas!!!

Great PSA notice! Here in Australia talking and texting on mobiles phones is illegal, but people do it anyway! Silly, silly people!

Great idea, being able to access tanglepatterns on my mobile!

  • Donna Duvall

Havent tried, is it available on Blackberry? I am new to the phones! ITalking and Texting is also illegal here in British Columbia but you do still see some doing it. stay safe and enjoy the moment!

    • Linda Farmer

Yes, it works on almost all mobile devices and I say almost because I don’t know of any (yet?) where there are problems. Certainly works on mobile devices by all well-recognized manufacturers. Thanks for your wishes!

  • Patricia White

Dear Linda I just wanted to say a big thank you for all your hard work in putting all the patterns on your site.I am fairly new to zentangle( but I have always doodled)and I am really enjoying myself. I wish you and your family a peaceful and happy Christmas and a prosperous new year. Here in the U.K.it is also illegal to use your mobile ‘phone in any way whilst driving, and also not to drink and drive but you always get the idiots who think the rules don’t apply to them. keep safe xx

    Dear Linda,
Thank you so much for your generosity in sharing so much with those of us that are trying to learn—-lovers of all that is Zentangles. You are so thoughtful and I appreciate you so much. I still feel like I am all thumbs when I do this but I realize that practice makes perfect. Thank you again, so very much and

    Peggy Limbacher

I use my Droid 2 or my Kindle Fire…the patterns show up well. I can look them up and practice them in my notebook or “shop” for a idea for a tangle.
