How to draw HEARTY

Zentangle pattern: HeartyWith February being the month of the Valentine, it’s appropriate to kick it off with a heart-themed pattern (notice how I slipped a subtle sport reference in there for Sunday’s Super Bowl? Go Stillers!*).

Hearty is another of Livia Chua’s creations and I bet you’ll be surprised when you see how this juicy tangle pattern comes together. For our newest Gentle Readers who aren’t yet familiar with her, Livia is known as skinnystraycat on flickr and she sticks to a style entirely her own. Actually, I can’t recall Livia using any patterns that aren’t her own. Her Zentangle-inspired drawings, like her sense of humor, are crisp and whimsical and they’ll make you smile.

Livia shows the step-by-step instructions for drawing her tangle pattern Hearty, here. And here is an example of Hearty in action. This is great for using along a string and there are many possibilities for variations with fills and shading.

Check out the tag liviac for more of Livia’s patterns on TanglePatterns.com.

(*Note: We lived in Pittsburgh PA for four wonderful years and this is how locals pronounce “Steelers”. Isn’t that right younz?)
