We’ve arrived at the weekend and the first day of Fall (this Sunday) in our hemisphere. Our South Hemisphere tangling friends will no doubt be enjoying their first day of Spring and looking forward to warmer days ahead.
Rhode Island CZT Bonnie Luther shares her sweet Forge tangle with us today. In this tile Bonnie features Forge as a ribbon-style tangle together with some Zentangle®-originals including Shattuck, Molygon and Pokeroot.
This is Bonnie’s second tangle on the site; Iriemon, her first, was a little “something that came to me while vacationing in Jamaica“. It seems that relaxation brings out the tangle in Bonnie as she explains:
“I was at a cookout at a friends house this summer. While sitting there relaxing, I noticed the wrought iron gate she had at her garden entrance. And what a neat tangle that pattern would make! In trying to come up with a name, I started looking at other wrought iron patterns. What fun! There are some really great patterns to explore.
Forge is great as a border or ribbon, in a circle, or as a tangle in an area of the tile.“
We have several wrought iron-inspired tangles on the site — you can locate them by typing the term “wrought iron” in the handy dandy search box at the top right of any page as shown in this screen capture, then pressing “Enter”.
In this Zentangle tile Bonnie has used Forge in a free-form style with ‘Dillo, Shard and Verve.
Bonnie illustrates the step-by-step instructions for drawing Forge below and she features it in another Zentangle tile with some familiar Zentangle-original tangles.
As you enjoy any of the tangles on the site, please leave a comment of thanks and encouragement to show the artists you appreciate them for sharing their creativity to inspire yours. Your comment helps motivate them to continue to share!

Thanks Linda for a week of fun and easy tangles. Just what I needed after RMZR (Rocky Mountain Zentangle Retreat) and all the more complicated stuff we did there. Forge will be a fun one to put with Icantoo from earlier this week.
I agree with Sue Leslie, something uncomplicated can be very nice, thank you for sharing this sweet tangle!
Forge is a very pretty tangle! What is the name of the tangle on the left in the first tile (the one with Pokeroot and Shattuck). It’s bordered by Forge on the top and Zander on the bottom. Thanks in advance for the answer!
Hi Dessie, that’s the Zentangle-original Xircus, Zander is also included in the tile as you noted.
Scoodle with “wings”! I love it, Bonnie. Wonderful border & it certainly lends itself to line-weighting. 🙂
