Greetings all, delighted to have you with me today to explore our last tangle for November 2023.
Today’s pretty ribbon-style Tsui tangle is from Japanese CZT Akiko Tokuse and it’s her first on the site.
Akiko demonstrates Tsui in two beautiful ZIA tiles showing us some ways to vary and embellish this tangle.
She writes,
I’m one of the CZTs living in Japan who loves Zentangle®. I live in Tokyo. The first time I saw Zentangle was at a local bookstore. I thought I was just trying it out, but I was hooked.
I never thought it would be so easy to draw various patterns and how comfortable it would be to draw Zentangle! I am very happy to have become a CZT, made many friends, and now be able to connect with people from all over the world.
In Japan, the term “tsui” refers to two items that form a set or a pair.
This pattern is created by adding one pair of shapes to the top, bottom, left and right of the center circle.
I added an S-shaped curve with a rounded tip to the top and bottom, and a <>-like shape to the left and right.
These are very simple, but they have a lot of possibilities in terms of shape and layout. Please enjoy your own arrangement.
Akiko illustrates the step-by-step instructions for drawing Tsui below and features it in a pretty ribbon-style example.
As you enjoy any of the tangles on the site, please leave a comment of thanks and encouragement to show the artists you appreciate them for sharing their creativity to inspire yours. Your thanks helps motivate them to continue to share! And please share a link to your favorite tangles on social media. Thanks!
