Hello my lovely tangling fans and welcome for our last tangle of the year. As always your company is greatly appreciated 🙂
Appropriately this tangle is named Holiday as it marks the beginning of a break for the holiday season until the launch of 2026 and the New Year.
Holiday is from California CZT Yoko Kakeyama and it’s her seventh tangle on the site.
Yoko introduces Holiday,
Like many tanglers, I love organic tangles. Most of the tangles I’ve come up with are inspired by the nature around us. Living in the forests of Northern California, it’s effortless for me to be inspired by nature these days.
As you might have guessed, this new tangle, Holiday, was inspired by my previously published tangle, Kelpie. This new tangle, Holiday, starts a little like Kelpie, yet the S-curve (a reversed S, in this case) and the tethered auras give it its own character.
Additionally, when you draw wiggly lines, it becomes an “Oak Leaf” variation; adding Tipple creates a “Herring Eggs” variation, and there are many more possibilities. It can even be drawn with a fatter, bowed stem, I call this the Bowed Variation, which gives it a friendly look.
Either way, it’s simple, versatile, and easy to draw. I hope you all enjoy drawing this tangle.
Happy Tangling!
In her steps Yoko shows three variations of Holiday and rather than pick the middle “Holly-day” version, I chose the third orb-y one for my example.
Yoko illustrates the step-by-step instructions for drawing Holiday below and she features it in a ZIA Renaissance Tan tile with variations.

In this illustration Yoko shares the “fatter bowed stem” version she mentions above.
