How to draw MARGIE

Hi there my tangling friends, I trust you had a relaxing weekend and are ready for some great new tangles to explore.

Today we have another bonus Monday! We have pair of sibling tangles to play with. Recently we introduced Cyndi Knapp’s X’s and X’smore, today we introduce Margie and Margie2.

Margie is from Maryland CZT Barbara Duel Johnson and soon to arrive in your inbox is its companion Margie2. Similar but different and both are charming, easy and fun Monday tangles.

Barbara introduces the first of the pair of tangles:

This is my tangle Margie, which is named after my sister.

Margie is a tangle that can be used for a focus tangle, a botanical/organic tangle, a string, an embellishment, etc.  It works well on a zendala.

Margie embellished with the Zentangle®-originals Fescu, Mooka, and Springkle.

The important thing in doing this tangle is that the 5th step, which is the last loop, needs to be smaller than the previous ones, so that it forms the centerpiece of the tangle.

I’m thinking CZT Vicki Bassett’s Showgirl and Biscus were the first of our tangles using this cascading auras technique and many other lovely tangles featuring the concept have followed since.

Barbara illustrates the step-by-step instructions for drawing Margie below and she includes two more examples showing ideas for embellishing it.
