Hello again my tangling friends, many thanks for dropping by this winter-y Monday. As always I’m delighted to have your company.
Our friends in northwestern New York state and southwestern Ontario were battered with several feet of snow over the weekend in an historic lake-effect storm. Over six and a half feet (nearly 2 metres) fell in some areas! Mother Nature has been pretty rough on a lot of us this year.
For we sports fans, we’ve got a month-long entertainment distraction: the FIFA World Cup 2022 is underway at long last 🙂 The Opening Ceremonies in Qatar and the first match took place yesterday, the final match on Sunday, December 18th will determine which country will be the World Champion of men’s soccer for the next four years. In the next week or two there are at least three competition matches a day! Lots of great tangling time there.
Today’s elegant and super easy Blattwerk tangle is from Swiss CZT Annett Ruempler.
Blattwerk is her ninth tangle on the site and a quick visit to Google Translate tells me that blattwerk means foliage in German.
Blattwerk is the essence of a pattern for Zentangle – a few simple repetitive strokes that anyone can manage and a beautiful non-objective result.
On her blog Annett features Blattwerk in a beautiful monotangle Zendala that looks like a minimalist holiday wreath. No doubt you can think of many ways of using this lovely ribbon-style tangle in your own Zentangle® creations, seasonal or otherwise.
Annett illustrates the step-by-step instructions for drawing Blattwerk here on her blog where you can enjoy the lovely monotangle Zendala starring Blattwerk.
As you enjoy any of the tangles on the site, please leave a comment of thanks and encouragement to show the artists you appreciate them for sharing their creativity to inspire yours. Your thanks helps motivate them to continue to share! And please share a link to your favorite tangles on social media. Thanks!
Check out the tag annettr for more of Annett’s tangles on TanglePatterns.com.
And a gentle reminder: With Gratitude – Once again it’s time to help keep TanglePatterns online for another great year.

- "A Zentangle has no up or down and is not a picture of something, so you have no worries about whether you can draw a hand, or a duck. You always succeed in creating a Zentangle." Es precioso este tangle!!! lo probaré en cuanto pueda!!
This tangle is beautiful!!! I’ll try it as soon as I can!!
What a lovely pattern, and so easy to draw! I just now drew it as a border around another pattern I’m working on, and it complements the larger pattern very nicely.
Nice tangle and beautiful examples in your blog, Annett.
Lovely tangle! It’s also easy and relaxing to draw. I love the way the shading gives it depth. Thank you!
Simply elegant!
