Hello again friends, can you believe it’s already officially Autumn in our Northern Hemisphere? It’s the Spring equinox for all our Southern Hemisphere friends. Two wonderful seasons in anyone’s book. This year has absolutely flown for me …
Today’s cool tangle Polystatic will have your aura-ing skills a good workout!
It’s from UK CZT Lucy Farran and it’s her 11th on the site. Most recently Lucy shared her Graticula with us and Polystatic looks a little like it could be a cousin of Lucy’s Hammersmith.
She writes,
Polystatic is a tangleation of the Zentangle HQ original tangle Static that I think it is different enough to warrant its own step out.
I have called it Polystatic, as the zigzag line that gets auraed looks a bit like pentagons or hexagons (polygons).
The inspiration came from the blouse of a lady who was standing in front of me in the queue at the bakery. I tend to photograph any interesting patterns I spot when I am out and about (even people’s clothing, I have no shame).
Speaking of having no shame, for “my” Polystatic example I’m using Lucy’s own beautiful example.
Lucy illustrates the step-by-step instructions for drawing Polystatic below. She features it in three gorgeous Zentangle tiles, noting: “The examples show how it can be used as a linear or radial border, or used repeatedly to fill a space. The auras can also just be repeated further outwards to fill a string section, as with Static.”
As you enjoy any of the tangles on the site, please leave a comment of thanks and encouragement to show the artists you appreciate them for sharing their creativity to inspire yours. Your thanks helps motivate them to continue to share! And please share a link to your favorite tangles on social media. Thanks!

Shana Tova to all our Jewish friends!
Sunset on Sunday (25th) marks the beginning of the two-day Jewish New Year celebration of Rosh Hashanah.

I love it! Definitely going to try. Thanks Lucy.
Oooooooo, Lucy, what a fabulous tangle!!! And it’s just amazing how your different shading patterns change its look!! I know what I’ll be exploring during my “tangle time” today. 🙂
Bravo, Lucy. I particularly like the shading and white highlights on your tan Renaissance tile that gives Polystatic some “motion”.
It is a wonderful new tangle, I like it very much, thanks for sharing Lucy!
GOOD!!! And beautiful examples. Congratulations
Thank-you all for your appreciation, I really hope you enjoy tangling Polystatic
Hahaha! Lucy I do the same! Any day I will be called out for photographing someone without permission…
But it’s worth the risk, this tangle is great and full of possibilities. I’ll try it a soon as I can!
I just saw this tangle in last week’s newsletter. Later in the week I saw it again on TV. A reporter was interviewing someone, and the chairs they were sitting on had this pattern in black, white, and gray. Couldn’t figure out why it was so familiar. Now I know: I saw it here first!
