Hello my friends! Delighted to see you again and thanks for keeping me company on this sweet Valentine’s Day 🙂
Our tangle of the day is Cherub from English/Norwegian CZT Debbie Raaen and it’s her third on the site including another heart-based tangle, the lovely Skelter.
Although Cherub may look a little more complicated than our usual Monday tangles, it truly is easy to tangle, One Stroke at a Time™.
Debbie writes,
With Valentine’s day right around the corner and a lot of people drawing hearts in the Zentangle community I was playing around with hearts in a similar way to another tangle I have drawn before and this row of hearts with a backing of interlocking hearts appeared. I think it’s rather fun and hope you do too.
It’s one of those that looks really difficult but isn’t. It only consists of “O” “3” and “V” shapes. The aura-ing at the end gives it it’s complexity, but this is only optional.
Cupid, the ancient Roman god of love is often depicted as a baby in many artworks throughout time and these baby angels are also known as cherubs. Hence the name of this tangle.
For my example of Cherub I used one of Debbie’s variations below, the one adjacent to Step 4 in her instructions with “a thick aura on one side“.
Debbie illustrates the step-by-step instructions for drawing Cherub below. Debbie includes two beautiful Zentangle tiles and demonstrates several pretty ways to vary her tangle.
As you enjoy any of the tangles on the site, please leave a comment of thanks and encouragement to show the artists you appreciate them for sharing their creativity to inspire yours. Your thanks helps motivate them to continue to share! And please share a link to your favorite tangles on social media. Thanks!
